As the year draws to a close, the successes of the Graduating Class of 2015 mellow, and sights are set on the school holidays, trips away, camps, and lazy summer days, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support that you have given Jann and me during our first year at AISB. I have been amazed at the community’s commitment to the success of our school, and there are two particular groups that I would like to single out to thank. Firstly the Board of Trustees at AISB, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the campus is adequately resourced and who earnestly executed their fiduciary responsibilities. As the Chair of the Board, Matthew Werner has guided us through many lively debates and brought stability and purpose to the decision-making process. He will be sorely missed and I would like to wish him and his family safe travels and fun in Washington before they start their next assignment in Kiev.
Likewise, I have been truly impressed with the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of our Parent-Teacher Organization who have committed countless hours to the school. In particular I would like to thank the executive committee under the guidance of Fabiana Papastefani-Pezzoni, PTO President. Ana Miriam Martinez, Fela Dalla Vedova – Sanjuan, Daniela Kaiser, Terry O’Donnell Parsons, Meghan Currier and Despina Szavuj.Together with Fabiana, you have achieved something special this year and performed a terrific job, setting the standard for the years to come. The community events that you have organized have exemplified what is great about our school and I have been truly impressed.
When we come back in August I will be ready to present to you the results of the 2015 Parent Survey and the ways in which the AISB Board of Trustees and Leadership Team will take on the suggestions for improvement that were made.
So as I wish everyone a wonderfully restful, relaxing, reflective few months, I know that there will be many who will be working hard over the summer, planning, constructing, and moving mountains to realize our dream of improving the quality of the education that we afford our students, our future.
